A Rockland County woman died after a tree fell on her during Wednesday's storm.
Police say 88-year old Barbara Soleski was shoveling in her yard on Hillside Avenue in Suffern when the incident occurred.
Soleski was apparently shoveling at the height of the storm when a massive tree and power lines came down and pinned her.
Suffern DPW crews just happened to see a huge tree down in the yard, and to their surprise, they found Soleski pinned underneath it.
Suffern Mayor Ed Markunas was one of the first to find Soleski, alive and conscious, trapped under the immense tree and tangled in a mess of possibly live power lines while the blinding snow was coming down.
Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn tells News 12 that it took nearly two dozen emergency workers, including Orange and Rockland crews, to remove Soleski. He says a second tree with wires crashed down near the group while they tried to save her.
She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and died later in the evening.
