The Fairfield Fire Department presented a larger-than-life size check to the Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer on Saturday.

The organization mostly operates out of Yale New Haven Hospital and supports families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer.

The $24,000 was from the Fairfield Firefighters Charitable Foundation.

Firefighters say this cause is important to them and was backed by the entire community.
