A former New Rochelle city employee has been arrested and indicted on federal corruption charges.
Authorities say John Gallagher, the former Director of Environmental Services and an employee of ARAMARK Management Services Limited Partnership, received more than $150,000 in bribes and kickbacks between 2009 and 2013.
The indictment alleges Mauro Zonzini, a former contractor for the school district, gave Gallagher kickbacks in the amount of a 10 percent payment that Zonzini’s company had received from doing masonry work for the district.
Zonzini has pleaded guilty to bribery and tax evasion.
New Rochelle school district leaders say they will “continue to cooperate and assist with the government's investigation and prosecution."
