Dogs, reptiles seized from Port Chester home
Dozens of reptiles and other pets were seized by police Wednesday after they were left to fend for themselves at a home in Port Chester.
Port Chester police say they found 20 dogs inside the home, as well as reptile cages stacked outside. Several contained dead animals.
A family member was caring for the dogs, but they were found ungroomed and covered with fleas, officials say.
A veterinarian determined that the dogs were not abused, but a notice to comply was issued, forcing the owners to improve conditions.
Investigators say the animals' owners are currently out of the country. Whether the owners will be facing charges or not will be determined in a few weeks.
