Yorktown is expected to resume COVID-19 restrictions on Monday due to rising coronavirus cases.

"Beginning on Monday for town facilities in the Town of Yorktown, we are requiring visitors to wear masks coming in, regardless of vaccination status," says Yorktown Supervisor Matt Slater.

Yorktown, which had a good grasp on the pandemic until recently, has seen COVID-19 cases increase from 4 to 60 in just the last month. Slater says that while no one wants to undergo restrictions, it is necessary for the safety of the public.

"We've already seen a couple spikes last year, earlier this year…We need to take the proactive steps to make sure that we protect our employees and the general public," he says.

In addition to the restrictions that will go into effect on Monday, Slater says the town will be offering free pop-up vaccination sites across the town to encourage residents to get vaccinated.
