Yorktown officials are celebrating a significant legal triumph as the New York State Supreme Court ruled in their favor regarding a contentious garbage contract decision made in 2022.
The court affirmed that the Town Board's actions were lawful when they awarded the contract to Competitive Carting.
Despite the contractual agreement, Competitive Carting failed to fulfill their obligations, leading to the termination of the contract, according to officials.
Competitive Carting contested this decision, but the court deemed their arguments inadequate. Consequently, the Town Board proceeded to award a new contract in September, marking a decisive resolution to the dispute.
