A 43-year-old Yonkers woman has pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular manslaughter following a crash that resulted in the death of her boyfriend.

Police say Mercedes Vargas crashed her vehicle into a school building while Martires Susana-Pena was hanging on to the hood of her car in September 2021.

Susana-Pena was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office says Vargas also pleaded guilty to aggravated DWI.

Authorities say she faces a sentence of six months in prison with five years of probation. She is due back in court in August.
