A Yonkers woman arrested for driving drunk Sunday in Mount Vernon has lost custody of her two young children, according to authorities.

Police say the incident began after officers attempted to stop a vehicle that morning on the Cross County Parkway.

The driver failed to pull over, prompting multiple police units to box the car in near Saw Mill Parkway in Yonkers.

Authorities say the driver, 47-year-old Tara Walencik, failed a sobriety test and was arrested.

An 8-year-old and 6-year-old were also in the vehicle. Police say they were not wearing seat belts or dressed properly for the cold weather.

Child Protective Services took custody of the children and Walencik was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated.
