Pfizer announced that trial results showed its COVID-19 vaccine is safe for kids ages 5 to 11, and now it's planning to submit the shot to the Food and Drug Administration for approval.
News 12's Samantha Crawford went to Yonkers to see what parents plan to do if the vaccine is approved.
Some parents say they will vaccinate their young children as soon as they can, whereas other parents say they will not have their child vaccinated and they are not vaccinated themselves.
"I spoke to my pediatrician the other day and he said since it's not available, we're not going to really have a conversation about it, but he said that being that the kids are getting so sick now, maybe it's something we can talk about when it's approved,” says Yonkers parent Tracey Angelori.
Health officials recommend parents also consult with an infectious disease expert with specialized knowledge of COVID-19— they can give specific advice for each family member.
