Yonkers celebrated its first-ever Pride Festival this weekend.
Main Street in Yonkers was decorated with a wide array of colors and the event featured activities, vendors, food and entertainment.
Yonkers City Council Majority Leader Michael Sabatino, the first openly gay public official of Yonkers, says it's rewarding to see how accepting people have become during his years in office. "LGBT people are no different than anyone else, it's just their orientation is different, and they love who they love. It's all about love," says Sabatino.
The event was organized by Mayor Mike Spano’s LGBTQ Advisory Board and the Yonkers Downtown BID.
