3ds agoDevelopers are seeking to construct senior housing at 900 North Broadway in Yonkers, but residents are expressing their opinions on the proposed project.
Many residents attended a public hearing at Yonkers City Hall Tuesday night to discuss the potential community impact of the development.
The proposal entails a 60-unit, four-story senior housing development, sparking discussions on various issues including parking, traffic congestion in northwest Yonkers, and affordability.
Former City Councilwoman Joan Gronowski expressed her concerns, stating, "It's not affordable, it's not low-income. It's market rate. This ratio is willfully deficient."
Residents also raised concerns about parking difficulties during the summer, fall, and winter evenings, particularly when street lights are on.
Additionally, flooding concerns were addressed during the meeting.
The Yonkers City Council has decided to table a vote on the zoning change, temporarily halting development plans while they review the community's concerns.
