Dozens gathered at the Church of St. Anthony in Yonkers for Easter services Sunday.

Churchgoers like Tony D'Angelo say after a year of the pandemic and virtual ceremonies, return to in-person services is a restore of a sense of normalcy.

"It's just the celebration of renewed life," D'Angelo says.

The chancellor of the New York Archdiocese, Msgr. Joseph LaMorte, led the Mass ceremony. He says the significance of Easter was on full display Sunday.

"Today, Easter Sunday, is the celebration of the great news that the tomb is empty, and Jesus is alive and he's here now," LaMorte says. "And he dispels all of our fears."

Msgr. Lamorte also tells News 12 that St. Anthony's is abiding by all COVID protocols, including limiting capacity at 50%, socially distancing church pews and proper personal protective equipment.
