Police say they have a suspect in custody for a brazen bank heist that took place in Yonkers Wednesday.
According to police, a man wearing a bandana over his face demanded money from a teller at a Bank of New York on South Broadway around noon. Although police say the man did not have a weapon, they did not reveal if the suspect got any cash. Several pedestrians apparently saw the suspect on the run. Police say a man fitting the suspect?s description was picked up a short time later in front of an apartment building on Hamilton Avenue.
Yonkers police say several bank employees were taken to the detective?s division and identified the man they picked up. Police say their investigation is still continuing. The FBI says bank heists usually increase during the holiday shopping season.
