Yonkers Police Department cuts patrols

The Yonkers Police Department is cutting back on patrols in some of the city's roughest neighborhoods.
In busy Getty Square, no officers were patrolling the streets Tuesday. Shop owners say that means customers will be less likely to spend their money there. Mangers believe officers would make shoppers feel safe and at ease.
"We have businesses here," says Frank Arias, a manager with Sprint. "[People] might go in and get rowdy. Who do we call, do they want us to take matters in our own hands?"
Yonkers Police Benevolent Association President Eddie Armour plans to speak to Mayor Phil Amicone to discuss restoring officers.
