A routine traffic stop at the Cross County Shopping Center Friday turned into a wild police chase down the Saw Mill Parkway that eventually ended in New York City, police say.
Police from both Yonkers and New York City joined the 5:30 p.m. chase as the suspect fled from one city into the other.
Police finally caught the suspect near Exit 19 on the Henry Hudson Parkway, near 232nd Street in the Bronx. He had crashed his car into a parked SUV belonging to a mother and her two young children who were visiting family in the area.
The Hispanic male suspect hit at least one Yonkers police officer as he fled, according to Westchester County police. EMTs confirm an officer was treated and released with minor injuries at the Cross County Shopping Center.
The suspect is in custody.
