A Yonkers police captain who revived a baby girl back in 1993 is now heading to the woman's wedding.
On Dec. 27, 1993, Yonkers Police Capt. Joseph Barca was sent to a home on Linden Street after he got a call about a child not breathing. He found Shammah Hamideh, then 2 months old, lifeless in her father's arms. Barca performed CPR on the baby and got her breathing again.
Barca has remained close with Hamideh's family since then and has been invited to her wedding in Chicago next week. Hamideh, now 20, tells News 12 she considers Barca her hero.
Barca plans on retiring this fall after 45 years on the force.
