Police unions in Yonkers are joining law enforcement officials from around the county in protesting film director Quentin Tarantino.
The boycott comes after Tarantino made controversial comments at an anti-police brutality rally last month, calling some officers murderers. Yonkers Police Benevolent Association President Keith Olsen says the organization has joined the NYPD in boycotting Tarantino's films, including his upcoming movie, "The Hateful Eight."
Tarantino made the remarks days after NYPD Officer Randolph Holder was shot in the line of duty. Olsen says Tarantino is contributing to a false narrative that paints police in a bad light.
"There have been instances where the cops were wrong and we own up to that. But to point this in a light that this happens at an alarming rate is wrong," says Olsen.
Olsen says he's reaching out to other police departments in the Hudson Valley to join the boycott.
