The Yonkers Police Department kicked off Police Week Monday.
The initiative is part of a community outreach program. It comes on the heels of the recent shooting death of an NYPD officer.
Police officials say programs like this and the newly instituted Stop and Shake program go a long way toward building a strong relationship between the community and law enforcement.
The Yonkers Police Department's mobile command center will be at the waterfront pier all week.
