Yonkers parents rallied Thursday to call for Gov. Kathy Hochul to let masking be optional for their kids.
The rally was held outside the Yonkers Public Library, where parents and students held signs that said, "this no longer makes sense" and "unmask our kids."
Parents say they're frustrated and want answers and clear guidance as to why the business mask mandate was dropped ahead of schools. They're asking the governor to consider their children as neighboring states loosen school mandates.
They say they're advocating for kids who complain about wearing masks for hours on end every day.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to release updated mask guidelines in the next week.
