A foundation in Yonkers will be sending donations to Puerto Rico Sunday after the U.S. territory was struck by a series of earthquakes over the past week.
The island was hit by a 5.9 magnitude earthquake on Saturday and a 6.4 magnitude quake earlier in the week, along with dozens of aftershocks.
Countless homes have been destroyed. Many are without power and water.
The Afya Foundation of Yonkers provides medical assistance and aide around the world to countries in need, and will now be focusing its efforts on Puerto Rico.
Volunteers will be sorting through donations that will be sent overseas. Items to be donated can be delivered to the foundation's warehouse.
The estimated cost of damage caused by the earthquakes in Puerto Rico is $110 million.
