A Yonkers mother accused of killing her newborn child last week appeared in a Bronx courthouse Monday for the second time.
Police say Jennifer Berry threw her daughter out of a seventh-story window after giving birth in her boyfriend's Bronx apartment.
The 33-year-old remained silent in front of the judge, occasionally looking down at the table in front of her. She refused to testify in front of the grand jury reviewing her case.
Berry is facing charges of murder and manslaughter. She is due back in court later this month.
As the case continues to unfold, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office has opened up another case against Berry. Authorities say her 2 1/2-week-old son was found unconscious in his crib seven years ago.
The child later died, but Berry was not charged in that earlier case after the medical examiner ruled that the boy died of sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS.
