While some students in Yonkers started their first day of school Thursday, others were told to stay home.
Yonkers Middle-High School canceled classes due to water damage from a leaky roof courtesy of Ernesto. Yonkers School Superintendent Bernard Perrazio says he hopes to have the problems fixed at the school so they can begin classes Friday.
Meanwhile, at School 32 parents were excited for the first day of classes, however, on Wednesday they didn?t think the school would open. It was one of the many places throughout Westchester without power due to the storm. Con Edison crews were working on power lines and set up a generator so the school could have electricity.
