A scooter accident claimed the life of a 33-year-old man in Yonkers overnight.

Police say the deadly accident happened just around midnight today at the intersection of Riverdale Avenue and Culver Street. They say the man riding a scooter was struck by an SUV. The man was taken to nearby St Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car did stay on the scene. There is no word yet as to what caused the accident.

Police have not released the identity of the victim yet or said if any charges are being filed.
