Yonkers man gets 19 years to life in prison for murder of truck driver

Heriberto Morales had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the 2018 death of Conkling.

A Yonkers man was sentenced Friday to 19 years to life for the murder of truck driver Timothy Conkling.
Heriberto Morales had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the 2018 death of Conkling. Morales was also sentenced to 16 years to life on the weapons charge. His sentences will be served concurrently.
Conkling, a 36-year-old driver for a private carting company, was shot stepping into his truck in Yonkers in March 2018.
In court today, Conkling's wife and two daughters made emotional statements regarding the impact his murder had on their lives and the deep loss they suffered.
