A Yonkers man is dead after the SUV he was riding in burst into flames yesterday on the Grand Central Parkway in Queens.
Police say Dale Tulloch was asleep in the backseat of the car and unable to escape the burning vehicle.
Investigators say the driver drove over metal, puncturing the gas tank and setting the vehicle on fire.
The driver and a front-seat passenger, also from Yonkers, were able to escape. The names of the 26-year-old man and 25-year-old woman in the car were not released. Both were taken to New York Hospital in Queens and are in stable condition.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Tulloch, a father of two, lost his life just one day before his 51st birthday.
