The Yonkers man charged in the 2005 shooting death of an NYPD officer is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday.
Steven Armento was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Officer Daniel Enchautegui. Police say Armento, along with actor Lillo Brancato, broke into a Bronx apartment to steal prescription drugs in 2005. When Enchautegui went to investigate, police say he was shot by Armento.
Hundreds of police officers are expected at the Bronx courthouse for sentencing. The death penalty is off the table, as capital punishment is on hold in New York.
