A new kind of pledge went down at Martin Luther King Junior Academy this week.
Mayor Mike Spano helped administer a pledge of attendance to get students to commit to attending school.
The Pledge 180 campaign is designed to get kids to show up on time and in class for 180 days during the school year.
School officials say they had a 90% attendance rate for September, and hope to get the numbers even higher.
Research shows students who miss 10% of the year have a difficult time graduating.
