The Yonkers Municipal Housing Authority issued an apology today for a security breach that put thousands of tenants' Social Security numbers at risk.
Joseph Shuldiner, the executive director of the housing authority, says a former employee who left the agency a year ago uploaded more than 2,000 emails on a website he created through the Internet-hosting site GoDaddy.com.
Housing officials say despite criticism that it took too long - nearly three weeks - to notify the thousands of people affected, they still believe they did the right thing.
Yonkers police tell News 12 Westchester that a criminal investigation has been launched into the incident.
