The City of Yonkers held a memorial service Wednesday to remember a 15-year-old girl who lost her life in a car accident during a carnival in October 2013.
Kalie Gill was killed when a Jeep jumped the curb at Coyne Park on McLean Avenue. It was later determined that a mechanical malfunction caused the Jeep to plow into the group of people. The driver was not charged.
Three others were also injured, including Gill's 12-year-old sister, Lindsey.
Gill's parents, Damien and Karen, say they have been touched by the outpouring of support from the community.
The city unveiled a memorial plaque for Gill during the ceremony. McLean Avenue has also been renamed Kalie Gill Way.
