A special ceremony Wednesday let an 11-year-old girl from Yonkers meet the man who rescued her from an attack by two dogs.
Jaelynn Rodriguez was walking in front of a house on Prescott Street back in June when two bull mastiffs climbed the fence and attacked her.
Jose Jimenez pulled up alongside her and jumped in to save her.
"I got out of my car and tried to do something to get rid of those dogs,” he said.
While he doesn’t consider himself a hero, Jimenez was honored Wednesday by Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano with the 2017 Good Samaritan Award.
Rodriguez still has scars left by the two 120-pound dogs that attacked her, and her mom says she can’t walk down a street if she sees a dog.
