For the first time in eight years, change is coming to government in Yonkers.
Mayor-elect Mike Spano is expected to make major staff announcements within the next week.
John Spano, who is heading up the transition team for his younger brother, says they have gone though about half of the agencies, but still have to decide about some major departments such as the DPW, police and fire departments.
Spano says the city's top jobs will likely all go to current Yonkers residents and "in-house" candidates are being strongly considered.
Sources tell News 12 that Deputy Police Chief William Cave is a top contender for the police commissioner job and that Fire Chief William Fitzpatrick is being eyed for the fire department's top job. Current Fire Commissioner Tony Pagano and Police Commissioner Edmond Hartnett both resigned recently.
Spano said the decisions will likely be announced by the end of the week.
