Yonkers firefighters brought some Christmas cheer to the residents of five nursing homes they visited Monday.
The firefighters continued their annual tradition, which dates back 50 years, of singing Christmas carols at the nursing homes.
"It's something that has been going on for so long, in a day in age where people don’t Christmas carol anymore, it’s a tradition that we have and it doesn’t feel like Christmas until we start to go out and sing to all the people in the community,” says Lt. Peter Doran, president of the Holy Name Society.
Doran says to watch the smile on resident’s faces when you sing them and seeing them sing back to you is very rewarding.
