The Yonkers Fire Department is keeping a tradition alive that has lasted more than 50 years.

Firefighters spent Monday visiting nursing homes, caroling and spreading holiday cheer.

They sang classics like "Silent Night" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," and it was hard to tell who was having more fun.

Captain Peter Doran said the visits bring big smiles to seniors and firefighters alike.

The department has a long history of singing groups, starting with glee clubs and continuing with these carolers.
