Empire City Casino officials say opening
day of the 2021 Racing Program is
scheduled for Jan. 11, pending approval by
the State Gaming Commission.
According to a news release, the
234-race day calendar includes a stakes schedule featuring the return of the MGM Borgata Pacing
Series, Blue Chip Matchmaker Series, and two Triple Crown events.
News 12 is told the calendar will shift to a five-consecutive weekday schedule. The plan offers live harness
racing Monday through Friday as
the city moves the Saturday
race card to Wednesday.
The raceway also plans to reduce takeout rates on Pick 4 and Pick 5 races from 25%
to 20%. They say the change was done to the benefit of bettors. A $1 Pick 6
wager will also be added.
Alex Dadoyan, director of racing at Yonkers Raceway,
says “We are pleased to be able to
lower the takeout rate on these popular multi-race wagers to the lowest levels
allowed by the state.”
Due to current state regulations, races are to be run without fans in
attendance. Only essential personnel and
owners will be permitted on the track and required to adhere to strict health
and safety protocols.
