Weather forced the postponement of Monday's Opening Day game at Yankee Stadium.
The team announced the postponement around 8:30 a.m. that the game against the Astros will be played Tuesday at 1:05 p.m.
During a break in the rain Monday morning, a number of Yankees, including expected starter Masahiro Tanaka, took to the field and played catch and ran.
Manager Joe Girardi said the team is itching to get going, but everyone understands that weather delays are part of baseball.
"It's part of what we go through. We do not play in controlled conditions, we don't play indoors...you hope to play but we have to wait a day."
Dallas Keuchel and Tanaka are still expected to pitch in the rematch of the 2015 AL Wild Card Game.
