The strike has ended for some 1199 SEIU nursing home workers after the union reached a tentative agreement with 250 facilities across New York.
The workers at the Campbell Hall Nursing Home in Orange County went on strike for one day, claiming that the owner refused to sign off on a contract.
Jerry Woods, the owner of Campbell Hall Nursing Home, is disputing claims that he is refusing to sign off on the contract.  He says he not signed off on the contract because it was never presented to him.
The nearly 50 striking workers were back on the picket line at 6 a.m., but are now back in the facility with support from area elected officials and other community and labor supporters.
After three months of tense negotiations, 1199 SEIU and some 250 nursing home employers reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract. The agreement covers about 33,000 1199 nursing home workers.
This was considered a major victory for the health care workers as they head into more than two years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The agreement includes guaranteed annual wage increases, protection of health and pension benefits and adds Juneteenth as paid holiday,
News 12 has reached out to Campbell Hall officials for comment, but has not heard back.
Union officials say the contracts for the 249 facilities who have agreed to the new deal, now await ratification by membership.
