A worker fell from scaffolding above the Taconic Parkway Wednesday afternoon in Yorktown, causing a major traffic back up.

Hartsdale Fire Department helped respond.

They say Yorktown first responders found the worker with serious injuries on the scaffolding of the AMVETS Bridge over the Taconic.

Hartsdale's technical rescue team used a tower ladder to get up to the worker, evaluate injuries and pack the patient up for removal.

Firefighters got the worker down using a bucket and rope system.

Once the patient was on the ground, they were rushed off to the hospital.

Firefighters say, while this doesn't happen often, they train consistently to ensure everyone ends up safe.
