A Mount Vernon woman says NYPD officers kicked in her door and illegally searched her apartment, looking for a person she says she does not know.
Geneva Smith, 54, says the incident happened last Tuesday at around 8 a.m. She says she was alone when two male plainclothes officers knocked at the door, said they were the police and ordered her to let them in.
"They pushed the door in, it pushed me back and it broke the chain off the door," Smith says.
She says they searched the apartment for a man she doesn't know, and says they did not display any identification or search warrants.
Smith and her husband say they're still shaken by the incident, and say they have hired an attorney. So far, they say there's been no explanation from the NYPD.
