A Bronx woman faces murder charges after police say she set a fire to harm her boyfriend, but instead started a blaze that killed a toddler.
Sharon Scott, 42, was arrested in connection with a two-alarm fire at 64 Jesup Pl. on January 31. According to authorities, Scott set a mattress on fire that her boyfriend was lying on. The boyfriend was injured and remains in stable condition. However, officials say the flames spread to another floor, killing 2-year-old Amanda Adjivon and severely burning her father.
The victim's relatives say the family is trying to cope with the painful loss. Neighbors, many of whom are now homeless due to the blaze, say their hearts go out to the family.
