Monday's night's debate for the New York's 16th Congressional district was heated, and even contentious at times, as Westchester County Executive George Latimer and incumbent Rep. Jamaal Bowman sparred on a host of issues, from the Middle East to public safety.

Was there a clear winner last night? It depends on who you ask.

"I think we clearly "won" the debate," Rep. Jamaal Bowman told News12, who caught up with the congressman at the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester, where he was celebrating funding that he secured there.

Bowman and his camp say Monday night was an opportunity to highlight all the work they've done in the district.

"We got to celebrate some of the wins we brought to the district, whether it was the Workforce Development Program at the YMCA, or the Youth Heal Program at the Westchester Youth Shelter," Bowman said.

Bowman says his opponent tried to paint a picture that he has no results.

"The fact that he continues to say, 'results over rhetoric,' as if we don't have results. You're lying to voters. It's a lie. Just like he lied last night when he said gun violence isn't a top issue in Westchester. He did say that," said Bowman.

News 12 also met up with County Executive George Latimer right before he gave his weekly update. He had some choice words for his opponent.

"I think some of his claims are bogus. He claims he's delivered $1 billion to the district, he hasn't," said the county executive, who also touted his accomplishments last night.

"We've cut taxes, we've lowered violent crime, we've been able to fix infrastructure, it's not just I voted for this, I've actually done that," said Latimer.

It's now up to the public to decide who the better candidate is.

The primary election is June 25.
