The White Plains Public Safety Department demonstrated its capabilities to a delegation of Chinese law enforcement officials Wednesday.
The delegation consists of 22 law enforcement officials from all over the People's Republic of China. Most are either police chiefs or commissioners for their departments. They came to see how White Plains protects its citizens.
A computerized simulator is one of the training tools the White Plains Police Department showed off. The simulator takes officers through various scenarios where they may be confronted by an armed individual.
None of the Chinese officials were willing to give interviews, but officials of Berkeley College, which is helping to host the Chinese visitors, hope the demonstration will open lines of communication. White Plains Public Safety Commissioner David Chong says he welcomes being under the international spotlight.
