A Westchester native found himself sitting on top of the leaderboard of one of golf’s most prestigious events
Scarborough native Cameron Young played in his first Open Championship Thursday at the home of golf - St. Andrews in Scotland.
Cam shot a bogey free eight under 64 and had a two shot lead after the first round.
Young is having a sensational rookie season on the PGA Tour. He's had five Top 10 finishes this year, but has yet to bring home his first win. “There's just no way of hiding how special of a place this is, and it's certainly been a goal to get to an Open Championship and for my first one to be here is a little bit extra special for me,” said Young after his round.
Young’s father is the longtime head professional at Sleepy Hollow Country Club.
