Islip Airport hit 98 degrees on Wednesday. That breaks the previous record of 92 degrees set in 2003 and officially marks the fourth day of our heat wave.

Relief from the heat is on the way. It will be warm and muggy, with lows near 72 degrees.

Another chance for hit and miss showers arrives Saturday, with the best chance being Saturday evening. The day will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy, with highs near 80 degrees.

Sunday will be the better weekend day with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s.

Expect seasonable weather to kick off next week before temperatures begin to rise well into the 80s to near 90 again by next Thursday.
