Westlake High School students, alumni and members of the community are protesting what they're calling a lack of diversity at their school.
It was organized after an assignment given to students that showed controversial cartoons of a white man kneeling on a Black man's neck, progressing from a slave owner to a KKK member then to a police officer.
The students are standing behind their teacher, saying the assignment started a conversation they should have had a long time ago and they are calling for more diversity in education and staff at their school.
One student said they can only think of one Black teacher in the school.
News 12 reached out to the district but has not heard back.
