Peekskill police have launched an investigation after a female high school student was approached by a man in a car on Friday.

The Peekskill City School District says the student did not enter the vehicle and reported the incident immediately.

School officials urge parents to speak to their children about safety and remind them to never accept rides from strangers.

Authorities have yet to release any additional information.
