A Westchester woman trying to send her daughter to college is in dire need of a place to live.
Karen Chapman tells News 12 that she struggled to make ends meet after her husband passed away – foreclosing on a home during the real estate crisis of 2008 and plummeting her credit score.
Chapman says she can afford the apartments she's looked at, but dozens of landlords have said they won't take them.
"I have called every government, nonprofit, housing agency in Westchester and in this area and none of them can help me,” she says. “And mostly because they all have closed waiting lists."

She says she has to stay in Westchester because of a great financial aid package her daughter received from SUNY Purchase where she hopes to attend in the fall.
A GoFundMe to help Chapman and her daughter, Faith, can be found here. Chapman says the hope is that a broker will accept their offer if she offes to pay them a large sum upfront.
She says if no one will take them, she will use money to have her daughter live on campus and she will find a shelter for herself.
