A Westchester teenager is taking the world of fencing by storm.
When 15-year-old Sylvie Binder isn't volunteering, doing homework, or going to class at Byram Hills High School, she's working on her craft.
The Armonk native has secured a No. 1 ranking in fencing in the United States.
"I found that when you do something that you love you don't have trouble balancing it," she says.
In April, she placed third in her age group at the world championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Binder trains with a former Olympian at the Fencing Academy of Westchester in White Plains.
