Two new Youth Poet Laureates have been chosen in Westchester County.

Alexa Murphy from Sleepy Hollow and Harmony Hopwood from New Rochelle are this year's recipients of the designation.

Both will work with the Youth Bureau to create opportunities for young people to engage in creative writing, spoken word poetry, playwriting and film making.

"We are celebrating both Alexa and Harmony because of your artist excellence and civic engagement, you are using your words to make sure that everyone understands and hears the voice of young people," says Dr. Damia Harris-Madden, Youth Bureau executive director.
