The Westchester County Board of Legislators today overrode all 27 of County Executive Rob Astorino's (R-Westchester) vetoes to the 2012 spending plan.
Astorino had rejected funding for neighborhood health centers, child care subsidies and other parts of the $1.9 billion spending plan.
When Astorino outlined his budget proposal in mid-November, he said his objective was to avoid an increase in the tax levy, while protecting the county's Aaa bond rating. Following a late-night session earlier this month, the board produced a budget which did that, although several programs Astorino wanted cut were restored.
While the Democrats have a veto-proof majority, some veto-override votes were unanimous and received Republican support as well. Business owners, residents pleased with 2012 budget
