The Westchester Knicks and health officials are teaming up to help stomp out congenital heart disease in children.
Knicks dancers and Main Street Health held a jump rope event yesterday in Tuckahoe in which they donated a dollar a jump and tickets to last night's game for any child who did it 18 times.
Participants say it was a fun way to help raise money for a good cause. "It's a good feeling knowing that we're raising awareness; some people aren't aware that it's a serious issue," says Knicks Dancer Carina Francisco.
The event is part of Heart Health Awareness Month. Health experts say one out of every 125 babies are born with a heart defect each year.
